**UPDATE 9/11/18**
Scroll to the bottom for additional information.
Dear Southside Family,
After consulting with ServPro and the Linn County Department of Health Services the church building will be open once again starting Tuesday evening, 9/11/18.
We will continue to keep the 2’s & 3’s classroom and bathroom quarantined through 9/29, resuming full classroom usage on Sunday 9/30/18. For parents of preschoolers we will be using the other classrooms in the meantime so classes for all aged children will be available Sunday 9/16/18.
Thank you for your understanding this past weekend. We missed you all!
In regards to pinworm, the best way to prevent the spread of it’s eggs is to practice good hygiene; washing your hands thoroughly both before and after using the restroom, and before eating food or touching your mouth. Pinworm outbreaks are fairly common in our community and while being unpleasant are not life threatening.
Southside will continue to be diligent to provide clean and safe classrooms for our children. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to wash toys, tables, chairs and countertops in our children’s classrooms.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact any of the pastors, ministry directors or the church office. You can also scroll to the bottom of this page for additional information from the website of the Center for Disease Control.
See you next Sunday!
Brian Gosser

**Update 11:00pm 9/8/18**
Dear Southside Family,
It has come to our attention that the area of potential outbreak within the church facility is not limited to just the 2’s & 3’s classrooms, but potentially the rest of the educational facilities, the nursery, and the worship center bathrooms.
Therefore, it is important that we clean the entire facility thoroughly before holding any services, or host other ministries or activities in the main building. This means that we will be cancelling services on 9/9/18, for the 8am Sunday School Class, and the 9am & 10:30am worship services. The planned BBQ, Night of Worship, and Pie & Ice Cream Dessert will also be postponed and rescheduled to another date yet to be determined.
We apologize for the inconvenience and late notice. We will miss our weekly gathering of worship with the church family and look forward to seeing you back on Sunday 9/16.
If you have the church app, we encourage you to send us your prayer requests, praises and other communications using the “Communication Card”. You can access past sermons, CR testimonies, an online Bible and other tools if you desire to worship from home. You can also use the app for online giving if you had planned to do that this week.
In the meantime we will be organizing a cleaning party and will begin the sanitation process Monday. If you are willing to help please contact one of the pastors or elders or call the church office. Thank you for your understanding.
As I encourage you each week, whether together or apart, within the walls of the Southside worship center & classrooms or at home or work, Go Be the Church!
In Jesus,
Brian Gosser
p.s. If I can figure out my “Facebook Live” I may try and post a short devotional based on the upcoming sermon series “Stepping Up” for you to use in your worship this weekend. *crosses fingers*

**Update from 7:00pm 9/9/18**
Southside Family,
This morning we were informed that a child who
was in our 2’s & 3’s classroom during the week was diagnosed with pinworm.
The child was contagious while in the classroom and we are taking the necessary
precautions to minimize an outbreak. Parents whose children were in class with
the child have been notified individually.
Because of how contagious pinworms are, how
difficult they are to get rid of, and how easily they are shared among
toddlers, the decision has been made to quarantine the classroom, as well as
the conjoining bathroom, for a few weeks. This will cause some of our
classrooms to be moved around.
For this Sunday (tomorrow, 9/9):
First Hour Toddlers and Preschool Class will meet in the 4’s & 5’s classroom.
Second Hour Toddlers will be checked in and out in the 4’s & 5’s classroom.
Celebrate Recovery on Wednesdays:
CR Nursery will be moved to the 4’s & 5’s classroom.
MOPS on Thursdays:
MOPS Toddlers will join the preschoolers for the first meeting in the 4’s & 5’s classroom.
Signs will be posted in the preschool wing to help with any
confusion this may cause, but if you are unable to find your child’s classroom,
any of our teachers will be able to assist you.
After the classroom has been quarantined, a team
will go in and disinfect the entire classroom before children will be let back
in for classes. During the quarantine period, NO toys, blankets, classroom
supplies, chairs, or tables may be removed from the classroom and used in any
other area of the church. The doors will be locked and signs will be posted to
ensure this doesn’t happen.
If you believe your child(ren) have been exposed
or does in fact have pinworms, please contact our Children’s Ministry Director,
Rachel Vigna, as soon as possible so we can keep this exposure to a
minimum.
Symptoms to watch out for:
Itching of the private areas, especially during the night
insomnia, irritability, and restless sleep
intermittent abdominal pain and nausea
If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact Rachel Vigna at 541-971-7314 or Rachel@southsidelebanon.com.
In Christ,
Southside Leadership
